NEC WOMEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Aoife Horgan, Central Connecticut
Jr., Forward
Kerry, Ireland/St. Joseph's Secondary School Ballybunion

Horgan netted an 84th minute game-winning goal in Central Connecticut’s 2-1 victory over conference foe Howard on Thursday. In a battle for first place in the NEC standings, CCSU and Howard were stuck at 1-1 since the 61st minute of the match. The junior forward won a loose ball and fired a shot off from the right corner outside the box. Her initial shot was blocked by the Howard goalkeeper, but during a scramble for the ball in front of the net, Horgan slotted it into the goal. Additionally, she scored the first goal in the Blue Devils’ 5-0 shutout win at Delaware State on Sunday. Horgan finished the week with four points as CCSU improved to 5-0 in NEC play. The Ireland native is currently tied for fifth in the league with five goals this season and she ranks third with 13 points.

Late in the first half, Kelleher beat the LIU goalkeeper one-on-one off a rebound and placed the ball in the bottom right corner to give the Pios a 1-0 lead. In the 70th minute, she found the back of the net again as she tapped in the ball off an initial save from the Sharks’ goalie.
