NEC WOMEN'S CO-SWIMMERS OF THE WEEK
Maaike Broersma, Long Island
Jr., Bodegraven, Netherlands/De Goudse Waarden

In a two-day dual meet victory against St. Francis Brooklyn on Friday and Saturday, Broersma stood atop the podium individually while setting two top-NEC times. The junior swam a 2:02.60 in the 200-yard backstroke (1st in NEC) and earned gold in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 56.23 (1st in NEC). Broersma helped the 400-yard freestyle relay team to a first place finish, recording a 3:36.82 and 52.44 leg. She also helped the 400-yard medley relay team to a gold finish touching in at 3:53.36 with a 56.41 leadoff leg. 

Aurem Pifarre, Saint Francis
So., Balaguer, Spain

In a three-day dual meet against Liberty, Pifarre recorded three top times in the NEC. In the 500-yard freestyle the sophomore placed third touching in at 5:03.58 (1st in NEC), swam a 25.11 in the 50-yard freestyle (19th in NEC), and finished fourth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:53.46 (1st in NEC). Pifarre helped the 200-yard freestyle relay team to a bronze finish touching in at 7:42.94 and recorded a fourth-place time of 17:33.26 (1st in NEC) in the 1650-yard freestyle. She also took part in the 100-yard freestyle relay that resulted in a fifth place time of 3:35.67.

NEC WOMEN'S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Lorenza Kobaic, St. Francis Brooklyn
Fr., Matulji, Croatia/Prva Sušacka Hrvatska Gimnazija

Now the recipient of two straight NEC Rookie of the Week honors, Kobaic took silver in the 100-yard backstroke touching the wall in 1:01.00. The rookie helped the 400-yard medley relay team to a second-place finish (4:05.29; 1:01.83 lead off leg) and the 200-yard freestyle relay team to a first place finish (1:39.06; 24.53 leg) in a two-day dual meet against LIU.

NEC MEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
Giannis Venetos, Long Island
Jr., Vouliagmeni, Athens, Greece/Kessaris

In a two-day dual meet victory against St. Francis Brooklyn, Venetos grabbed gold in the 100-yard breaststroke (58.11; 1st in NEC) and gold in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:11.02; 5th in NEC). The junior helped the 200-yard medley relay team to a first place team finish that touched in 1:35.97 assisted by his 26.19 leg.

NEC MEN'S ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Emilio Garcia, Long Island
Fr.

Competing against St. Francis Brooklyn on Friday and Saturday, Garcia won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.54 (5th in NEC) and 200-yard freestyle clocking a 1:45.29 (7th in NEC). He finished fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:01.61 (12th in NEC). Garcia also placed sixth in the 100-yard freestyle (48.60, 16th in NEC).

NEC WOMEN'S PRIME PERFORMERS

Venna Andersen, LIU, Jr. 
Andersen was decorated in gold last week in a dual meet against St. Francis Brooklyn. The junior placed first in the 50-yard freestyle (24.35, 6th in NEC), 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.65, 1st in NEC) and 100-yard freestyle (53.31), which was just 0.31 off her fastest time this season. Andersen also helped the 400-yard medley relay team to a first place finish in 3:53.36 with a 1:04.93 leg. She was also part of LIU's winning 200-yard medley relay quartet, recording a 29.91 leg whiel the team touched in 1:47.91.

On Friday and Saturday, Johnson touched the wall first in 2:07.75 in the 200-yard butterfly and 59.20 in the 100-yard butterfly. The graduate helped the the 200-yard medley relay team to a gold finish with a 26.78 leg and 1:47.91 team finish. She also had a 54.35 lead ff leg in the 400-yard freestyle relay to spark LIU to a 3:36.82 first place finish.

Mariajose Lopez, SFBK, Sr.
Lopez won the 500-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 5:16.64, and placed first in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:44.78 (2nd in NEC). The senior took fourth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.71; 26th in NEC) and was part of the fourth-place 400-yard freestyle relay team (3:50.43; 56.40 anchor leg)

In a three-day dual meet against Liberty, Pifarre recorded three top times in the NEC. Sara Turner, SFU, Fr.
In a dual meet against Liberty, Turner was part of the 11th-place 200-yard IM relay team (2:09.44) and the 4x100-yard medley relay team that finished fifth with a time of 3:56.76. The rookie helped the 4x50-yard medley relay team to a 6th place finish with a time of 1:47.00 and swam the 400-yard individual medley in 4:31.62 for a fourth place finish and the top time in the NEC this season. Turner placed fourth in the 200-yard butterfly touching in at 2:07.37 (2nd in NEC) in the three-day meet.

NEC MEN'S PRIME PERFORMERS

Daniel Chocano Fernandez, LIU, Jr.
Fernandez won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:56.02, which is 0.52 off his second-ranked conference time. The junior also won the 400-yard individual medley relay, touching the wall in 4:08.62 (2nd in NEC).

Competing against SFBK on Friday and Saturday, Garcia won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.54 (5th in NEC) and 200-yard freestyle clocking a 1:45.29 (7th in NEC). Maurice Grabowski, SFBK, Fr.
Grabowski helped lead the 200-yard medley relay team to a win (1:36.96) and won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.84. The rookie took second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 47.57 against the College of Staten Island. 

Jedi Morland Janes, SFBK, Jr.
Janes won the 1650-yard freestyle against LIU, touching in at 16:50.34 (1st in NEC) and placed second in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:49.83. The junior was part of the 400-yard freestyle relay team that took fourth with a team time of 3:27.50.

Daniel Matheus Santos, SFBK, Sr.
In a meet against CSI, Santos won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:45.90 and won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 47.09 (6th in NEC). The senior helped the 200-yard freestyle relay team to a winning time of 1:28.83 with a 20.85 anchor leg. 

Valentin Schnermann, SFBK, Fr.
In a two-day dual meet against LIU, Schermann was part of the fourth-place 400-medley relay team touching in at a 3:44.63, then took second in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:18.69. The rookie swam on the 200-yard freestyle relay team (1:30.66) and won the 500-yard freestyle, clocking a 4:48.43. He also finished third in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:58.13.
